I just bought a drag car. It is gorgeous. It purrs when I fire it up, and the clutch is nice and tight. It corners really well, and the engine was rebuilt last year, and I have to say, the mechanics that did it obviously knew what they were doing. I got a very good deal on it, which is great, because now I can afford to keep it in local car storage. By keeping it in local car storage it will keep the paint job looking shiny and new. It will also prevent theft, because the storage units I am keeping it in offer surveillance video and electric gates for added security. I have been looking for a car like this for a long time, and it is nice to know that it is being kept in a safe place. I am eager to take it out and really see what it can do. There is a drag strip not far from my house that some of my friends race their cars at. They have a radar detector that tells you how fast you are going, and since it is an official strip, it is a nice straight stretch so I can get a really good reading on the car. Until I can make it to the strip though, I am having a lot of fun just driving it around town. I took it out to meet my friends the other night, and they were all eager to get behind the wheel and see how it compared to their cars. So far, my little dragster is holding its own pretty well. Every summer, our family goes down to the southeast part of our country to enjoy the beach and the sun with our family. We live in the Midwest, but everyone else in our family resides in Florida. I do not know why we moved away because I like the weather better down there, but I guess it makes it that much more fun to go back every summer. Every year, we always take the yacht that my uncle owns out on the water for a couple of days relaxing on the deck in the hot sun. I love to get a nice tan and take a dip in the salty ocean, but one of my favorite things to do is help him at the local yacht storage facility. The security at this place is outrageous. We have to enter a code to go through a gate, and then enter another code on a key pad to get in to the warehouse, and then drive through the warehouse to find the boat. Luckily he pays a little more to have a spot near the entrance, and he has been with the same local yacht storage company for several years, but it is still one heck of a task to get in and out of this place. Once we are to the boat, we then have to hook the trailer up to the truck and carefully maneuver the enormous boat through all the other yachts to get back to the entrance to the warehouse. Last year, I got to drive the truck for the first time on the way out and I love the feeling of driving down the highway near the beach with a huge yacht attached to my vehicle. When growing up most kids wanted to be a firefighter, police man, a superhero, well even though I still wanted to be a superhero, I wanted to be someone who could solve problems and take care of what they needed. My superhero dreams ended when I realized that I would not likely be bitten by a spider or be injected with some experiment serum that will make me turn 8 feet tall and green. I had to unfortunely persue other dreams. I thought about being a psychologist and being able to understand what is in the minds of the people that I am talking to. Once again I would not possess the ability to read minds or control anyone to do what I wanted them to do, I would just have to ask the right questions and hope that I built enough rapport to make them talk back to me. Being a psychologist did not happen for me either, but I still feel good about what I do. I help the self storage customer find what storage space they will need in order to get moved, get their house clean, or help their business. The self storage customer most of the time has a preconceived notion on what they would like to hear on the phone when looking for storage, and sometimes it is way off. I find out their needs and their situation and walk them through the rental process. I can hear a sigh of relief when we are done talking and they feel a weight lifted off of their chest. Moving into a new facility is always a fun time mixed with times that are hard. Being a big guy is hard sometimes because you are the one that gets to help everyone lift the heaviest things and be the one to encourage those people who are tuckered out from the process. I think we had to move like four file cabinets that contained all of the files that I believe the company has kept for years. Let me tell you how fun that was to carry up a flight of stairs. The new facility that we are in is a couple of steps above the facility that we were once in. The sad thing is that we had to leave that facility after years and years of going to one place to conduct your business. Eventually sometimes you have to make the decision to build another facility that will accommodate all of the needs that you have. It is amazing to come into work and be happy with what I see. We have a very nice facility and sometimes I still feel like I am dreaming when I remember where we used to be to where we are now. When it comes to the storage industry, sometimes you want to move into another bigger, badder facility that the company thinks the community would enjoy, but they do not have the self storage funding that they require making the move they want. It is a tough market. No one in this market is making as much money and is as successful as they once were. Currently the stock market lowers and lowers each day.
